maps

most of you have noticed that there are a couple hours in between the wedding and the studio reception. this is a chance for you to relax, grab a bite, grab a drink, take a nap, go swimming, change clothes if you want (the studio party is still a little swanky), grab a jacket (for sure), and you know, take a breather.

we've updated googlemaps with a bunch of restaurants, bars, pool halls, bowling alleys, and places to chill in between the events. we'll keep updating the map with places all over the city: but for now: the east side is almost covered. you can check up on the map here.

For those of you staying downtown or east side: we've also filled in tons of restaurants, bars, sights, walking areas, shopping areas, coffee places, etc. You can get a lay of the land and start planning all your meals in advance like I do on trips. kidding. no, really.

flaggin' em down

as you may have noticed, i'm a bit into "defining the space" for this upcoming event.
we are really lucky to have such a huge area to have our wedding and luncheon in: but i'm a bit worried about it just being a big picnic unless we do a couple (little, simple and not wasteful) things to the park....

my dad sent me these:

they are little flags that usually are used to indicate locations on construction sites...
stay tuned to see how we make use of the thousands he sent me:)

food, glorious food

We are super excited that one of our favorite restaurants, Good Girl Dinette, and one of our favorite chefs, Diep, will be caterering the wedding.

we got to go to our tasting today, and ummm: we think the food will be lovely and delicious.

we'll all be lunching on self-constructed noodle salads: featuring local veggies from the farmers market, with a bunch of awesomely different and flavorful sauces.

we'll also have little mushroom tartines and rice and tofu cakes and these little cute things that were delish but i don't remember the name but they are in the picture above...a perfect october lunch:)

isaac is convinced we need place cards…i think otherwise, but having been to weddings where you don’t know everyone, i do recognize that they can be helpful…so now we just need to figure out how to do it right…

it has to be easy, affordable, not wasteful, and also fit our whole simple, picnic party feel…

liking these mason jar cup/placeholder seen on snippet and ink (which is a great wedding blog)

and also love this lemon table number (altho it seems a bit wasteful: also at snippet and ink):

liked these from Michelle Rago

the below option wouldn’t be wasteful if you replanted or replaced the grass….

and on a personal note: these are the ones isaac and i designed for denise and lenny (isaac’s mom and stepfather)’s wedding:

eats and bouquets....

mw0405_spr05_rwdb16_xl.jpg

thinking of alternatives to a traditional wedding cake... we like the idea that everyone tastes the same thing as the newly married couple…but maybe only in theory…so we are thinking about lots of dessert options, picnic random style.

and we love these tiers kinda forming the look of a cake.

we aren’t having flowers at the wedding…it’s outdoors and gorgeous enough without.

however, I liked the idea of thinking of an alternative to a bouquet….this is an option, as is making fabric flowers or something like the above.
